It’s your choice as to whether you play on a commercial field or home field. A commercial field is a paintball field set up as a business. Usually these fields charge entry fees and often rent equipment. The bonus to playing on a commercial field is that you get to use established bunkers without having to purchase or set any up yourself. Also, if you are a beginner, commercial fields that rent paintball equipment make it very easy to get started and try the game without committing to a large initial purchase.

At a commercial field you can jump right into the game because the rules are already established and upheld by the staff of the facility. This not only allows more playing time, but it also offers a safer game. Despite the entry fee, commercial fields are great to play at and can add much fun to your game. If you can’t afford going to a commercial field or you don’t have one in your city, you can always play paintball in any open field or wooded area.

With the popularity of woodsball ever increasing, most commercial paintball parks now have woodsball fields. Large commercial woodsball fields often offer giant scenario game competitions or war simulations. There’s nothing more fun than using realistic military paintball gear at a realistic mil-sim oriented scenario. The rental equipment at these type of fields is also usually tactical style paintball equipment; military replica markers, camouflage protective gear, etc.

Woodsball fields are primarily used for scenario paintballing. In general, there are three types of woodsball fields, the forest, hybrid, and hay field. The forest field is the most natural of the three; basically, you’re playing paintball in the woods. Rather than using bunkers, trees, fallen logs, outcroppings of rocks and tall grass are what players use as cover. Sometimes players can manipulate this playing field a bit by piling up leaves or branches, but essentially everything on the field is already there naturally. This type of field is excellent for scenario and military simulation play.

The hybrid field is very similar to the forest field, only with an addition. In the hybrid field, play is still in a wooded area (just like the forest field), however there are also bunkers that have been placed throughout the woods. Common bunkers seen on this field are often old cars, stacks of tires, barrels and piles of natural items, like rocks or logs. Some parks have elaborate scenario hybrid fields with huge forts, castles, buildings or giant, life size inflatable military vehicles to hide behind and play on.

The hay field is just like it sounds, a field of hay. These fields are a lot less common but every bit as fun. The bunkers in hay fields are tall stacks of either round or square bailed hay. Even without solid structures such as logs or inflatable bunkers, bails of hay can present new challenges making the game different and fun. Sometimes hay fields also have old tractors and farm equipment to hide behind as well.

If you live close to a commercial field, whether you play woodsball or speedball, frequent their establishment as often as you can afford. Paintball fields are small businesses that can always use the support, not to mention they give you great places to play! Try to find a commercial woodsball field and play on it; then play woodsball in the forest and see which you like better. If you know the woodsball field you’ll be playing on in advance, try to wear the appropriate camouflage clothing to match your environment!

Winning the game in paintball can be easy once you know the effective strategies. This type of game can be exciting and thrilling. How to win the game is your priority. That is why the first the first thing in your mind to play paintball games is to create a winning strategy.

Remember that whether you are just a beginner or a pro, you should still consider these paintball tips to have a “sure hit” win against your opponents. Here it is my friend. Read on.

Strategy 1 – Plan with your team

Tactical planning with your team is very important. Don’t just rely on your own skills just because you know how to play paintball games. One of the paint ball tips: camaraderie. Remember this idea for the team to win.

It is also a good idea to listen to your captain. If in case you are the captain, you can also consider the suggestions of your member. Keep in mind that the game is like a basketball wherein there is team unity.

A part of your effective plan is to carefully study the terrain you are going to play with. In this way, you are able to know where to hide and determine your vantage point. Remember that your main goal here is to beat the opposing team so give your best shot.

Strategy 2 – Gear up!

Don’t forget to gear up to play paintball games. This means that you need a paintball gun, paintballs (include an extra cartridge), safety gears (body armor, knee pads, elbow pads and head mask). These things are important before playing the game.

Also, practice safety measures so as not to hurt yourself, your team mates and your opponents as well. Remember that the game is a kind of extreme sport since it requires agility and mind tactics too.

Strategy 3 – Layout the rules

Another paintball tips is to layout the rule of the game first. Rules in the game are very important to know the boundaries, time limit and the “no-no’s” in playing the gun sport. This will only mean that everyone should cooperate to avoid problems and penalties once the game starts.

Each team should also have a distinct uniform to avoid gunning down your team mates. Field referees should also be a part of the game to strictly implement the rules and determine who the winning team is.

Strategy 4 – Aim!

Once the game starts, be on the lookout and regularly check your back. This includes covering your team mate. Keep a steady aim in shooting your opponent and focus on the game.

Don’t be nervous! Your skills are important since you are also a part of the game. Although it is just a friendly game, your morale must be high to play paintball games.

These are the effective strategies you can apply to win the game of paintball. Beat all your opponents and carry the flag! Remember, not to get “hot headed” in this kind of game since it is a friendly sport.

Curious about the history of paintball? I have complied here a short, sweet version of paintball's history. Who

Curious about the history of paintball? I have complied here a short, sweet version of paintball’s history.

Who?

Paintball began when three men, Hayes Noel, Charles Gaines, and Bob Gurnsey, were hanging out and discussing Gaines’ recent experiences hunting wild buffalo in Africa. Believe it or not, they were thought to have been inspired by the story, “The Most Dangerous Game” by Richard Connell. (I know, I never thought that short story would have any significance in the rest of my life either, scary how things are connected like that) Anyway, these three fellas wanted to create a game that would be similar to the lethal sport discussed in “The Most Dangerous Game”. For those of you who don’t know, here’s a quick summary of the plot:

-Man crashes on “deserted” island.

-Man finds Russian Man who loves hunting.

-Russian Man says Man had to play in his game.

-Man doesn’t want to, but agrees on the condition Russian Man will let him leave if Man wins.

-Man then finds out Russian Man is going to be hunting him with the intent of killing him.

-Man doesn’t like this, but game begins anyway.

-Games go on, Man panics, then does better after a while, eventually dropping a tree on Russian Man.

-Man kills Russian Man.

-Man lives happily ever after (Okay, so maybe I added that part).

Point being, the history of paintball really started with a couple of guys looking for an adrenaline rush.

What?

The first games of paintball were much smaller scale then they are today. The history of the paintball gun started with the Nel-spot 007, a small pistol conventionally used to mark trees and livestock with paint. (Nothing nearly as ferocious as what we have today) As time went on, Bob Gurnsey created the National Survival Game company, and cut a deal became the only distributor of paintball equipment for a long while.

When?

This wondrous sport started four score and seven year ago, kidding… In reality, paintball was first stumbled upon around 35 years ago. Around 1981-1983, other companies finally got on the scene to combat Gurnsey’s monopoly. This is when the game finally ignited and really grew in popularity. Tippmann was also established around this time. In 1984, paintball went international, as Skirmish Paintball created fields in Australia and England. Ever heard of Action Pursuit Games? (A paintball magazine) Well, they were the first magazine for paintball, ever, and hit the market in 1987.

Where?

Paintball was started in the United States, and (as mentioned before) first jumped to other countries in the year 1984. Currently, it’s estimated that more than 12 million people play paintball all over the world, in around 100 different countries. (Bet those three guys never thought it would take off this far huh?)

Why?

Why did paintball become so popular? Cause it’s totally awesome that’s why! In reality, it’s hard to pinpoint an exact reason for paintball’s growing popularity. But, looking at the history of paintball and the history of paintball guns, I’d say paintball probably took off so much because of the adrenaline people get from playing the game. It’s a pretty intense experience, one that I think everyone should try.

Thanks for reading!

Professional and experienced athletes always look for the best sports equipment. You can only play and enjoy the game well if you are using the best and durable equipment. Most paintball players have this concept every time they engage in paintballing. They opt for expensive but the best quality equipment and gear. There are primary and secondary equipment to be used when doing paintballing. However, some equipment are not necessary but play important roles in the game. They key is to complete your list of paintball equipment to ensure satisfaction and enjoyment of the game.

Primary Equipment: Paintballs

Paintballs are another primary device of paintball sport. It is used as ammunition and is the partner of paintball marker. In most tournaments and competitions, high quality paintballs are being used since players are competing for the best and aiming to achieve a crown and trophy. Usually, the quality and durability of paintballs are determined through their shell’s brittleness.

High quality paintballs are those with spherical shape. Paintballs have normally bright color and loaded with food-coloring, mineral oils, and other things which are intended for paintballs. In addition, paintball has think shells. The cell of the paintball will have an impact on the target once the hiding strategy of the target is determined.

Primary Equipment: Paintball Marker

The basic and probably the necessary equipment of the game is paintball marker. You cannot start the game without the presence of paintball marker. This equipment is used to determine the target fire. The paintball maker comes in two types especially in terms of the process of attaching the loader for feeding the gun with ammunition. The first type is gravity fed model and the second type is electronically forced-fed model. The first type is characterized by an automatic drop of balls in the chamber while the second type uses electricity when loading balls. The basic principle used by the paintball guns are compression of carbon dioxide and air.

Paintball Gear: Mask and Goggles

In paintballing, goggles and mask play essential roles as protective tools. These devices help players stay away from the strong impact of any paintball that will hit the face of the player. As safety gear, their primary role and responsibility is to protect your eye and other parts of your face such as nose, ears, and mouth. You can find paintball masks with have throat guard to effectively protect your throat from possible injury. Masks and goggles with thinner sizes are mostly available in the market.

Considering Cheap Paintball Gun or Marker

Quality should come first before affordability. Although there are some people who claim that not all cheap products have low quality, you should ensure that your chosen cheap paintball gun has been proven durable and high quality. In addition, you should think many times if purchasing cheap paintball gun is a wise move to make. Paintball gun which refers to an air gun is always present in every paintball games. Try to shop around and you will find available airguns in the market like stock guns, pistols, automatic as well as semi-automatic. The key when choosing affordable paintball guns is to check carefully the gadget and asking for advice from those who already used cheap paintball guns.

In this competitive world, people sometimes confuse on what to buy. Cheap products can help them save extra cash while expensive product can pull out their extra money, but give them high quality and long-term usage.

People often anticipate and fear the first time they play paintball. Questions that typically come to mind are, “Does it hurt?” and “Is it dangerous?” The truth is, paintball is a fun game for most people who don’t mind a little minor pain here and there.

To begin, players are going to need paintball markers to shoot paintballs, goggles, a face mask, knee pads, elbow pads, and a cricket box if the player is a male. Goggles should not be removed. This is to prevent damage to the eye while players are firing in the person’s direction.

Since there is some pain associated with being hit on bare skin, it’s best to cover up as much exposed skin with clothing as possible to lessen the pain. The heavier the clothes, the less soreness. This game is very safe, as long as players provide proper protection to their eyes, mouth and ears. Teeth can be chipped and eardrums can be ruptured without taking necessary precautions. Markers should be kept around 280 feet per second (FPS), plus or minus 15 FPS.

As for the stings, most of the time they last for only a minute, and sometimes the pain isn’t there at all. Paint that hits exposed skin hurts much more than contact with layers of clothing. If a close range shot hits a player, it will likely sting as well as bruise. The closer the shot, the more pain. The paint will wash out of clothes, but it may cause some tearing and ripping. It’s best for the player to wear clothes he or she can easily do without for everyday school or work activities.

The breakage of skin and some bleeding may be caused by paintballs shot at close range, but typically, these minor injuries are nothing to fuss over. Bruises or welts caused by shots typically go away in less than a week.

Other players will often target others known to be new to the game. Often, people that are new can be easily identified by them standing around and just shooting. When a player is known to be new, many may swarm to his or her spot and begin to shoot. One hit may only sting, but many shots at once hurts, especially if those shots are at close range.

It’s best for people to approach the game of paintball with strategy. Playing with a teammate and staying concealed is the best way to be victorious. New participants may not understand the game at first, but as they get better, they usually come to love this excellent sport.

Paintball is growing sport not only in North America, but also the world. In North America alone, it is not uncommon to see organizations sponsoring a paintball competition or event. The beauty of the game is that people can play it casually or take it seriously. It’s all up to the player.

Although paintball guns are designed to shoot only paintballs, it is no means free from all danger. When everyone follows the rules and wears basic protective gear, the fun aspect of the game is maintained. It is vital that players remember and maintain safety practices at all times, especially during the times of a heated battle, where people are more prone to get carried away. This could be from the paintball guns being used, to the equipment being worn. Ethics and good sportsmanship are also a must to keep the games clean and fun.

If a player is in the playing field, it is important that he or she has protective gear on at all times. A facemask is required to protect the head and face, and for body protection, pads on the knees, chest and elbows. Rubber sole shoes are the best option for feet, and rubber gloves on the hands is also preferable.

Make sure paintball guns fire within the bounds of maximum velocity, inspection before every match is the way to do it. Participants can be seriously injured if the balls travel more than 300 feet per second, be sure that every gun does not exceed that.

Accidents can happen in the staging area simply because participants were tinkering with their guns, and accidentally misfired. A simple barrel plug can prevent such accidents. It is advisable that barrel plugs should be inserted before and at the end of every match to keep the paintball marker from firing when the game is not being played.

During a battle, dirt, paint or sweat could obstruct the facemask vision. Players should not take off the mask without the referee being called. This is to make sure that no shooting can be done while the mask is being cleaned. After it is clean and mounted back on the player’s face, the battle can resume. On cases where a facemask is accidentally taken off, the same rules apply.

In the battle zone, the only valid activity that one competitor can do to another player is shooting paint to eliminate them. Even then, a competitor can opt to surrender for a situation where being eliminated is inevitable. If so, no shooting is necessary. This game is intended to be fun for all participants; this means that striking or aggressive body contact between players is not allowed. Cursing on the playing field is ill-advised, unless all players agree that cursing is allowable.

Paintball is a popular sport involving teams competing against each other in simulated warfare. These contests are held in fields, forests, wooden forts, or any combination of the above and often feature various obstacles and barriers that allow for strategic game play. Games generally involve various objectives, such as Capture the Flag or Elimination.

Standard equipment includes paintball masks, which protect the eyes and face from incoming projectiles, and skin protecting clothing. Camouflage is popular, especially when playing in wooded areas. Long sleeves are common to protect exposed skin from hazards, and heavy duty shoes are often preferable.

The paintball gun is the main armament and many types of guns are available. Guns can be simple pump action affairs, semi-automatic, or even mechanically and electronically controlled automatics. Guns use compressed gas, usually CO2, to fire paintballs at opponents. Paintballs travel very rapidly and can cause welts if hitting exposed or lightly covered skin from short or medium distances, which is why many players wear protective clothing. A paintball explodes on contact, which marks the player it hits as “dead.” Paint is non-toxic and machine washable.

At the beginning of a round, teams are decided upon. This can be a simply matter of having captains choose players one after the other; to predetermined teams that have played with each other before. Teams generally wear identification marks, such as colored flags on their arms, to indicate which team they are a member of. Teams then move to their prospective side of the playing field and the match begins. Strategy is integral to achieve whatever the objective is, and teams that work well together which often emerge victorious. Making good use of cover and firing accurately will limit team casualties as they pursue victory. Referees are common in organized paintball games and will enforce rules and boundaries. When a player is shot they will call out that they have been hit and will usually raise their arms and gun above their head to show they are “out” before heading for the nearest exit point.

Like any other sport, paintball is no different in that there are positions players can play on a paintball field, more specifically a speedball field.

Like any other sport, paintball is no different in that there are positions players can play on a paintball field, more specifically a speedball field. In soccer you can find mid, defender and forward positions, each player with their own unique purpose, each acting as a link in the chain. Without one, the entire unit would fail, and in paintball we can find the same connection, after all it is a team sport.

So you step on the paintball speedball field for the first time and a more experienced looking player asks where you plan on going. An experienced player would reply first with the position he plans on filling in and secondly the location in that area. The same way you have a sideline defender or a center forward in the sport of soccer, is basically the same thing you will find in paintball.

The three positions in paintball consist of Front, Mid, and Backplayers. As in just about every team sport that has positions on the playing field, each position needs to be filled by a player that has the appropriate skill set. Front players need to be agile, snappy, and quick. You generally do not want your biggest player to play as a Front player, but it has been done, especially if for some reason they are exceptionally well at staying tight with a bunker.

While each position has its own skill set, only one I believe stands out as the biggest position on the paintball field. This position needs to be filled by a player that has an incredible ability to read the game, and needs to be your teams best player. While every position on the playing field is an important link in the chain, this position in particular is an especially large link, one that no team can manage to play without. To find out more about this key position on the paintball field, check out my website to read more of this article on paintball positions.

I had a very interesting revelation last weekend while playing paintball for the first time in a few years. A close friend decided to celebrate his 40th birthday by organizing a scenario paintball event on a large paintball field with family and friends. Invitations were extended to couples and children over 8 years old. I’ve played paintball consistently for 25 years, until a few years ago when my life-long hobby succumb to other family priorities. Neither of my sons have ever played paintball but based on my countless “war” stories and pictures they were extremely excited to play for the first time at this birthday event. On the other hand, my wife was very apprehensive to participate but wanted to experience and understand what the excitement was all about. Interestingly as a parent, I now had major concerns and reservations about my sons and wife playing paintball due to the likely-hood of them being hurt by paintballs. I really wanted them to have a fun paintball experience, as I knew they would never agree to play again if they were hurt or felt too scared to play

Paintball Gear

Fortunately, a friend who is also a paintball referee suggested I purchase some protective clothing manufactured by Field Armor Paintball. After doing some research online about protective products for paintball, I found that Field Armor products offered the best paintball protection from welts and bruising. Apparently, there are also several expert reviews written about the effectiveness of their products, as well as many years of positive customer reviews. After some skepticism, I decided to purchase 3 Field Armor Paintball protective jumpsuits; 1 for my wife and 2 for my boys (13 and 18 years old). After receiving my order, I was happily surprised by the level of protection and comfort of these suits. They fit like regular clothes and lightweight with mesh on the sides for ventilation. I thought the overall design was very clever with multiple fasteners through-out the suit in order to make it fit properly. There were also pod-holders and pockets for personal items.

Paintball Fields

The birthday event turned out to be a lot of fun; especially for my wife and sons who did extremely well playing for their first time. I quickly noticed that only after a few games, my wife and sons were no longer afraid of getting hurt while huddled behind bunkers…and they begun to out-maneuver and knock-off other more experienced players. After several hours of playing and multiple welts, I decided to try-on and play in my older son’s suit – oh boy, what a difference! I immediately noticed the change in my agility, especially when I had to dive on the ground or take a knee – the suit’s thin padding considerably softens impact to elbows and knees. The paintball fields we played on each had a unique setting which made the game even more exciting. There were castles, Wild West town, trench ware fare and even tree house fields.

Paintball Vests

During my first game while wearing the suit I was shot 3 times at close range. The suit protected me from shots to the side of my neck, chest and crotch. I felt slight taps from paintballs breaking on the suit but felt absolutely no pain. This realization significantly increased my confidence level, which allowed me to become more aggressive while running for the flag and taking position on other players. I continued to play with my son’s suit for a while and frankly did not want to give it back. Reluctantly returning the suit to my son, I realized that in my younger years I’ve played paintball in a much more defensive and less aggressive way than I did today, call it a case of subconscious or subtle fear. I noticed other players wearing a Field Armor Paintball armored vest. One of the paintball players was sitting out the next game and I asked if I could borrow one of his paintball vests for the next game. It was a one size fits all and had fasteners that helped keep it snug to my body. The paintball vest also could be transformed into a jacket with a pair of removable sleeves. I played with one armored sleeve on to protect my forward arm. The padded paintball vest stopped several hits to my neck and chest as I ran in for a bunker. I walked back to camp ready for the next game instead of sitting out with an ice pack nursing golf ball sized welts. Today, I played with less nervous anxiety and played to win which is a lot more fun!
